Today was the very first concert of our Grand Chinese New Year Concert Tour 2016! At the same time it was the first Grand Chinese New Year Concert in the old cultural town of Wiesbaden.
After our arrival at the beautiful and over 100 years old Staatstheater, we did 4 hours of rehearsal, as all musicians were very serious and excited about the start of the tour.
Everything in the theater was very well organized. Before the performance Mr. Bettinger, Director of Planning & Scheduling, delivered a welcoming speech and all of us felt very welcome here.
At 19:00 the theater doors opened and the public came in. Many guests came to our merchandising stand first and were very interested in the “Chinese zodiac”. We answered questions about the Year of the monkey and explained to the guests what Zodiac they are referring to their date of birth.
At 19:30 everyone was ready for the start of the first concert! After a short introduction from our good friend and moderator Gerhard Schmitt-Thiel, the concert started in time. In the first half, the China Traditional Orchestra of CNODDT presented several kinds of traditional Chinese pieces, including the most famous piece “Liang shanbo and Zhu Yingtai”. In the second half the orchestra presented three Chinese symphony works. All pieces of the program gained honest and passionate applause.
At the end of the concert and after two encores the applause did not want to come to an end. For the beautiful audience, the orchestra played even one more additional piece.
This was an unforgettable concert night in Wiesbaden and we will definitely come back next year.
